Machine Builder Solutions

CO2 Technology Integration Tool

BUILDERThe CPUTM (CO2 Processer Unit) is a revolutionary new product offering. The CPU provides OEMs, machine builders and equipment engineers with advanced CO2-based processing technology in a compact Plug-and-Spray integration module. The CPU can be integrated into virtually any machine, equipment platform, and process to provide in-situ dry, clean surface treatment, process thermal control and cooling-lubrication. Cellular processes are lean and much more productive because two or more manufacturing operations can be performed within the same work space. Products don't have to be removed, transported, processed and returned - resulting in reduced movement, human interaction, higher throughput, and decreased cost-of-ownership. The CPU further enables the cellular process model with dry precision cleaning, cooling and lubrication capabilities. The CPU performs these functions without producing air pollution, wastewater or solid wastes, and enhances product yield, tool productivity and increases energy savings.

Key Features:

• CO2 composite spray technology
• SmartSpray™ monitoring and control
• Up to 4 discrete spray applicators
• Standard and custom configurations

Surface Cleaning and Treatment

The precision cleaning CPU removes thin film and submicron particle contamination from surfaces using precisely-applied and powerful scrubbing CO2 particles, eliminating the need for solvents or ineffective air blow-off techniques. Optional microabrasive and atmospheric plasma systems accessorize the CPU to provide microscopic surface roughening and modification for complete surface preparation capability. Particles and organic films are removed and surface area is increased, leaving a precision clean and high energy surface for coating, bonding, soldering, inspection and many other manufacturing processes.

Clean Machining

Cooling-Lubrication

The machining CPU significantly improves dry (and near-dry) machine operations such as turning, milling and drilling, and is particularly beneficial for challenging materials such as hard metals, poor thermal conductors, abrasive materials, engineered plastics and composite materials. The machining CPU outperforms conventional dry and wet coolants in terms of tool wear, surface finish and machine productivity. Expensive cutting tools such as polycrystalline diamond (PCD) last much longer as compared to, for example, dry machining hard materials such as tungsten carbide using cold air coolant. Added benefits include deeper cutting capability and improved surface finishes.
